Most people visit France. Few ever get to live like the French do.

The typical tourist trip

  • Guided groups of 30 through the same museums
  • Rushed itineraries, 6am wake-ups, no time to breathe
  • Tourist restaurants chosen for convenience
  • A week in France and you still feel like an outsider
  • Back home and it's already fading

This trip

  • Maximum of 12 guests. Enough to feel intimate, enough to feel alive
  • The pace is French — slow, sensory, nothing rushed
  • Restaurants chosen by someone who actually lives this way
  • You leave speaking the language and understanding the culture
  • The kind of week you talk about for years

Book early. Drink well.

The first guests to confirm their place on each week receive something the rest of the group does not. Not a discount. An experience reserved only for those who moved first.

Early bird exclusive

A complimentary private wine session — for the first guests to confirm

Just you, a curated selection of the finest wines from the Landes region, and a sommelier who has spent years learning what makes them exceptional. No group. No schedule. Your own private afternoon before the week begins.

This is how the French actually live.

Not a schedule. Not a checklist. A way of being that most visitors never find.

Morning
Breakfast at the table. Two hours. Nowhere to be.
Midday
Lunch that takes three hours. Wine. Cheese. Conversation.
Afternoon
A walk. A nap. A swim. Time moves differently here.
Evening
Dinner at a table until 11pm. This is not unusual. This is Tuesday.
All week
French — spoken, heard, lived — in every single moment.

Four dimensions of a French week.

Language

Daily small-group sessions

Morning language workshops led by Violaine, a native French tutor. 1-on-1 coaching available. 24/7 access to your tutor throughout the week.

Culture & Discovery

The France tourists never reach

Biarritz historical tour, private art collections, Sunday market, the 1930s basco-landaise villa. Selected because they are genuinely worth your time.

Lifestyle

Cooking, wine, bikes, pétanque

A hands-on cooking class with chef Marine, a wine masterclass with a sommelier, fatbike rides along the coast, and pétanque by the marina. Active, unhurried, and entirely French.

Food & Wine

Meals worth remembering

Private chef Marine prepares wine-paired dinners at the villa. A Michelin-starred evening at Villa Étang Blanc. A cooking class. A wine masterclass. Restaurants chosen because Maria eats there herself.

France is not something I studied. It is where I am from. And what I vow to share.

Born and raised in Lille, France. 25 years teaching the French language. I founded Learn&Co with one belief: the best way to learn a language is to live inside it.

The restaurants I have chosen, the pace I have set, the way the week unfolds — all of it is designed to give you the experience of a true local in the south of France.

On this trip, I am not your guide. I am your host.

Things people want to know before getting in touch.

What kind of physical condition do I need to be in?
The pace is intentionally relaxed. There is walking involved — cobblestone streets, coastal paths — but nothing strenuous. If you can walk comfortably for 15 to 25 minutes at a time, you will be absolutely fine.
What age range is this trip for?
Adults only. The experience is designed for people who appreciate good food, unhurried travel, and genuine cultural connection. Guests have ranged from their 30s to their 70s.
What is the food like — and what if I have dietary requirements?
The food is a central part of this trip. Chef Marine prepares fresh, seasonal, French meals at the villa. Restaurants are handpicked — not tourist spots. Vegetarian, gluten-free, and other dietary needs are accommodated — just let us know in advance.
What is the wine and drinking experience like?
Wine is woven into the week — meals, a formal masterclass, and casual evenings at the villa. If you do not drink alcohol, there are non-alcoholic alternatives for every occasion.
What level of French do I need?
None. The trip is designed to work at any level, from complete beginner to conversational. Sessions are structured around where you are, not a fixed curriculum.
How structured is the daily schedule?
The mornings tend to have a loose structure — a language session or an activity. The afternoons and evenings are more fluid. You will never feel like you are being moved from place to place on someone else's timetable.
Is this trip right for me?
Send us your details and Maria will reach out personally. No pressure — just a conversation to see if this is the right fit for where you are right now.
